A BLS Instructor has the ability to teach the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Course. In addition, BLS Instructor's are also trained to teach: Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver CPR, Heartsaver AED, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, Heartsaver CPR in Schools, Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogen, and Family and Friends CPR with the proper instructor manual

An ACLS Instructor will have the ability to teach the ACLS provider courses as well as the update or renewal course.  You must be proficient in all ACLS skills which include Algorithms, Pharmacology, and Cardiac rhythms.

A PALS Instructor will be able to teach the PALS provider or PEARS provider courses.

​

A Heartsaver/First Aid Instructor is trained to teach Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver CPR, Heartsaver AED, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, Heartsaver CPR in Schools, Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogen, and Family and Friends CPR with the proper instructor manual. But cannot teach the BLS for Healthcare Provider Course.

4 step process to becoming an AHA Instructor:

 

1. Have current AHA provider status in the discipline of the Instructor Course, and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include BLS, ACLS, PALS, or Heartsaver. Online Course Click Here (Skills Check Required), Class Room Course Click Here

 

2. Complete the BLS, ACLS, PALS, or Heartsaver Instructor Essentials online before class. (New Instructors Only) Not Included

3. Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course and paperwork. Click Here

Book: A current Instructor manual is required for entry. (Included)

 

4. Successfully be monitored teaching your first course within six months after completing the Instructor Course. Training Center Coordinators may require additional monitoring.
